Krone and Astrata make telematics compatible

Werlte, Germany: Krone and the software provider Astrata are working to improve compatibility between the trailer and tractor telematics with a brand-independent telematics system for tractor units.

Krone transmits its telematics data to Astrata through an interface. Astrata extracts the most important trailer data to show it on the driver’s display under “Trailer Control”.

The driver can see on the in-cab display the trailer’s temperature as well as the status of the doors: open or closed.

Krone Telematics is linked to telematics systems from Daimler (Fleetboard system) and MAN (RioO system) and free software and provider systems from Trimble, TomTom, Transics Agheera, Gatehouse, Fleeture, Spedion and Gutrix (EuroLeasing).

Jan Hermeling at Krone Telematics said: “When we vehicle manufacturers talk about data networking, we are referring to data from the trailer and tractor unit. Here, all manufacturers are required to make their data compatible and readable. With Astrata, we are also moving away from isolated solutions towards greater connectivity and compatibility.”
