Cranfield University visiting professor in International Supply Chain Management Alan Waller OBE is the latest speaker confirmed for this October’s SHD Logistics Conference at The Library of Birmingham.
Alan will provide a strategy-orientated speaking session on driving change management initiatives among retailers.
Supply chain thinking needs to be embraced by the CEO and the board room of retailers, e-tailers and manufacturers to leverage supply chain capability across the end-to-end supply chain to create a step-change in business performance.
In-depth research, carried out in 2012 by Cranfield School of Management and sponsored by EFESO, a company in which Alan heads up the Supply Chain Innovation division, showed that companies experienced a success rate of only 50% in driving through successful change involving supply chain strategic initiatives.
Alan will in particular discuss the key ‘get-rights’ for driving successful change, the barriers to strategic change, and the results of a major survey initiated in 2017, updating the earlier research, focusing in particular on leadership and change management.
Alan was Founder and Director on two occasions of the Cranfield Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He also holds the Sir Robert Lawrence Gold Medal for his contribution to Logistics, was made an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen, and was named Individual Achiever of the Year for the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards. Also he holds the prestigeous Honorary Fellowship of CILT International.
The SHD Logistics Autumn Conference 2018, to be held on Tuesday 30th October, will take place at a brand new venue, The Library of Birmingham, and will ask the question whether logistics is the new retail - looking at key players in the fashion and food retail sectors, through to brick and mortar stores and the ascending e-commerce retail market.
