In September 2015, L.C. van Tiel Logistics B.V., a project forwarding company representing X2 Projects in the Netherlands was awarded a new logistics challenge: to transport a hydraulic hammer, sleeve and additional accessories from the Netherlands to Mina Sayed, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
The shipment consisted of the main piece, a hydraulic hammer secured in a cradle with the dimensions of 1430 x 300 x 300cm, weighing 155, 000 kg, and the sleeve in an upending cradle with the dimensions of 416 x 324 x 311cm, and weight of 43, 000 kg. Also included in the shipment were two pieces of counterweights, dimensions are 300 x 210 x 230cm, weighing 15, 000 kg and some 20” and 10” SOC.
In total, the entire cargo weighed 252 tonnes. The complete transport starting from the shipper’s depot was agreed at CFR until Mina Sayed, Abu Dhabi. The entire shipment was arranged and supervised by X2 member L.C. van Tiel Logistics.
Onsite cargo operation involved the loading of the hydraulic hammer through a twin lift spreader alongside several mobile cranes varying from 400 – 500 ton lifting capacity. Additionally, L.C. van Tiel took care of loading the additional accessories into the barge with ships gear for a direct transshipment towards the Port of Antwerp in Belgium and onwards MV Rickmers, Tokyo. The shipment sailed one day later to the Middle East with customs formalities swiftly taken care of by L.C van Tiel Logistics.
Executed safely and in agreement to the appropriate procedures, the project turned out to be another success for X2 Projects member L.C. van Tiel Logistics.
